Dear Bates Families,

Next Friday, June 5, Wellesley High School will hold its graduation ceremony, marking a special milestone for our community. To celebrate, the Wellesley elementary schools will continue our wonderful tradition of holding a schoolwide clap out for graduating seniors prior to their ceremony.

We are so excited to welcome back and celebrate our former Bates students as they return to our hallways in their caps and gowns next Friday. I wanted to share this with you in case your children mention it at home. We hope it will be a deeply meaningful and inspiring moment for both our graduating alumni and our current students!

Fifth Grade Fond Farewell

At Bates, we love to recognize our “graduates” with a special ceremony called Fond Farewell. This year’s Fond Farewell ceremony will be held on Thursday, June 18 at 9:00 am.

Fifth-grade families and friends are warmly invited to join us on Kelly Field (weather permitting) to celebrate our fifth graders as they make their exciting transition to middle school.

Spring Concert

On Wednesday, June 10 at 8:45 am in the gym we will hold the final concert of the year.�� The Bates band and orchestra, as well as the fifth grade chorus, will be performing.�� All family and friends are welcome to join us for this special event!

Dear Bates Families,

Bates is thrilled to welcome our families for Bates in Bloom on Wednesday from 8:30 – 9:15 am.�� We hope you’ll be able to join us to celebrate our students and their hard work! Students with siblings at Bates may travel with their families to one another’s classrooms at this time.�� If you are not able to make it, please let your child’s teacher know, so we can make sure all students feel supported Wednesday morning.��

Also next week, Bates is excited to host the return of the on Thursday and Friday.�� Through a whole-school assembly and hands-on grade-level workshops, students will explore the importance of inclusive language, accessibility, and the principles of universal design. We look forward to this powerful educational experience led by the Bionic Project’s inspiring educators and athletes. A huge thank you to our PTO for their generous support in making this program possible!

Finally, a huge kudos to our third, fourth and fifth grade students for completing their MCAS testing! They worked really hard and persevered through multiple days of testing.�� We are so proud of their determination and commitment to doing their very best.

Dear Bates Families,

A huge thank you to our PTO and families for showering us with kindness during Teacher Appreciation Week! We’ve felt so spoiled by the daily surprises: a delicious breakfast, a fully stocked snack bar, lunch from Linden, and plenty of sweets and raffle prizes. Beyond the treats, your thoughtful notes and words of appreciation mean the world to us. We are so grateful for our Bates community!

Dear Bates Families,

There are fewer than two weeks to go until the Bates Mini-Marathon!��In addition to being a fun community event, this year students have the opportunity to fundraise for the Wellesley Food Pantry.��Please see thisand for more information.��Families are encouraged to come out and cheer on the runners.��Below are the times each grade will be participating on Wednesday, April 15:

9-9:20 Grade 5
9:30-9:50 Kindergarten
10-10:20 Grade 4
10:30-10:50 Grade 3
11-11:20 Grade 1
11:30-11:50 Grade 2

Please note that the parking lot will be closed and parking will be limited near Bates for the safety of our students.��

As a reminder, there is no school tomorrow in observance of Good Friday.��I hope that our families who celebrate Passover and Easter have a joyful holiday!

Dear Bates Families,

We’ve really enjoyed the opportunity to meet with you for parent teacher conferences over the past few weeks. Thank you for making time for these important conversations and helping us to work in strong partnership with you.��

Bates Mini-Marathon

Mark your calendars for the Bates Mini-Marathon on April 15!�� The Mini Marathon is an all school event in which each grade takes turns running and walking laps around the building for 20 minutes.�� Students have already begun training during PE with Mx. Fyvie, increasing their endurance and learning how to pace themselves.�� Students feel proud of their progress each week.�� Below are a few important details:

Families are warmly invited to cheer enthusiastically for the students from the sidewalk in front of the school, or from the blacktop and playground area in the back.�� No RSVP needed – just show up if you can!��
We encourage all students to wear their Bates Proud t-shirt. It’s always wonderful to see our Bates pride on display during these school-wide events!
The specific times each grade will be running and more information will be shared next week!

As a reminder, next week there is no school on Friday in observance of Good Friday.�� I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
