The METCO program is funded by an annual state grant under the Racial Imbalance Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Mission<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">METCO\u2019s mission is to provide, through professional leadership and voluntary citizen action, the development and promotion of quality integrated educational opportunities for urban and suburban students in the Greater Boston community, and to work toward the expansion of a collaborative education program with the Boston and suburban school systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>METCO in Wellesley<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wellesley began its relationship with the METCO program in 1966 as one of the original seven founding districts. &nbsp;About 150 METCO students are enrolled in grades K-12 in all nine of the СÀ¶ÊÓƵ: Bates, Fiske, Hardy, Hunnewell, Schofield, Sprague, and Upham elementary schools, Wellesley Middle School, and Wellesley High School. &nbsp;Enrollment is based on annual program funding, available seating, and completion of the METCO, Inc. <a href=\"https:\/\/metcoinc.org\/services\/apply\/application\/\">enrollment process<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns has-4-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-7387b849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>About<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Watch this incredible <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=a5sswmQ5QoE&amp;feature=youtu.be\">video <\/a>about the history of METCO, by METCO students, including Wellesley High School&#8217;s (Class of 2021) Samone Lumley.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Mentoring<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Interested in serving as a mentor for our youth?
